                           The Attack on Pearl Harbour

It was a nice day at Pearl Harbour. The radar was registering a huge wave of warplanes. The U.S. thought that it was their own. But they weren't, they were Japanese bomber and torpedo planes. They were going to do a surprise attack on Pearl Harbour . The Japanese had 6 aircraft carriers, 2 battleships, 2 heavy cruisers, 1 light cruiser, 9 destroyers, 8 tankers, 23 fleet submarines, 5 midget submarines and 414 aircraft.

The surprise started at night. The Japanese were disappointed to see that the aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise, was not there. The Japanese sunk 4 battleships, 188 aircraft, and 2 other ships. They damaged 4 more battleships, 3 cruisers, 159 aircraft, 3 destroyers, and 3 other ships. 2,403 Americans were killed and 1178 were wounded. The Japanese had a few losses as well. Four of their midget submarines were sunk, 1 midget submarine was grounded, and 29 aircraft were destroyed. 64 Japanese were killed and 1 of their sailors was captured.
